The 34th annual Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR) took place this past weekend in Wellsboro, PA, and local Maineiac Chris Duplessis managed a come-from-behind victory to clinch the 2-Wheel Drive Championship.
Chris made an impressive comeback after a flat tire early on the first day put him 30th overall and third in class. Chris Greenhouse and co-driver Christopher Gordon dominated the 2WD field until rolling their 1995 Plymouth Neon and giving Duplessis the opportunity to take the lead. Duplessis finished the rally ninth overall and first in class.
Bill Bacon and co-driver, Peter Watt, secured another podium finish taking second overall at STPR behind only Antoine L’Estage and co-driver Nathalie Richard. The Bacon Motorsports team was happy with their result considering they dealt with a variety of mechanical issues throughout the weekend. Based on a great season-long points performance Bacon now qualifies for an X Games invitation this summer!
Also competing well this weekend was the Vermont based driver, Joey Kale and co-driver, Scott Nickerson who won the Sherwood Forest regional rally. Maine based driver (and recent winner of the Team O’Neil Rally) Maciej Przybysz came in 2nd alongside co-driver and spouse, Kristin Przybysz.
